Stop Mind-Let Me Be!
Finding peace of mind in this chaotic and fast paced world is a challenge. One of the ways I do this is by practicing yoga…each week, I attend 3 different classes, with 3 different teachers. Each teacher has her own way of teaching and the flow of each class is different. The one thing they all have in common is the ability to stretch not only the body but the mind as well…to challenge my fast pace and my racing mind.
I find it difficult to stop my mind long enough to meditate, but at least during the class, I attempt to be fully present, in the room and not running errands or solving problems mentally.
Often the class leader will share a bit about the principles or tenents of yoga..and I find again every teacher shares a little differently, but basically yoga is about being non-harming, compassionate, tolerant, truth, and non-attachment. Even during the class, we are not to be in competition with ourselves or the person beside us…your practice is your own. It is what it is, there is no absolute right way for that particular day except to listen to your body and be present.
One of my teachers, says each time this phrase: See everything and be distracted by nothing. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could carry this non-competitiveness, this awareness and mindfulness with us throughout the day…seeing everything and being distracted by nothing. What effect would this have on your being and your business?
